Belarusian Embassy to Request Information From UK Authorities on Attack Against Diplomat

Dec 30, 2021

London (UK), December 30: The Belarusian Embassy in London plans to send an official request on the progress of an investigation into an attack on the diplomatic mission to the UK authorities, Ambassador Maksim Ermolovich told Sputnik.
The embassy is discussing with British authorities a mechanism to protect diplomats after the incident, the ambassador added.
The ambassador stressed that the arrival of the Metropolitan police to the Belarusian embassy for some reason had dragged on for a longer time than expected.
According to Ermolovich, the police received a video of the incident. The video, shot by the staff of the Belarusian Embassy in London, allegedly shows the suspected perpetrators.
"Our compatriots and, in general, those involved in this incident did not really hide their faces and it seems to me that it will not be difficult for the representatives of the British police to establish their identity. I hope that this has already been done," Ermolovich said.
The ambassador added that on December 19, the Belarusian citizens came to the embassy to express their protest.
The incident took place on 19 December and left one diplomat seriously injured. After the arrival of law enforcement agencies, the assailants attempted to escape from the scene. One attacker was detained by the London diplomatic police but later released.
