Castillo calls on Peruvians to vote in regional-municipal elections

Lima (Peru), September 3: Peruvian President Pedro Castillo on Sunday called on Peruvians to vote in the regional and municipal elections for the 2023-2026 period.
Noting that his administration will work with all elected officials to "form a single front and close the gaps" in the country, Castillo voted at La Laguna Educational Institution in the province of Chota, Cajamarca region, said the local media.
The president tweeted "new authorities will be elected who will assume the responsibility of working for the development of each district, province, and region of the country" to call for voting.
He also urged the candidates and all Peruvians to receive the results issued by the National Office of Electoral Processes "with prudence and responsibility."
More than 24 million Peruvians are eligible to vote for candidates vying for about 13,000 positions.
