Jun 17, 2019

Washington (USA) June 17: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says President Donald Trump would raise the issue of human rights in Hong Kong to Chinese President Xi Jinping if they meet on the sidelines of the upcoming G20 summit in Osaka, Japan.
In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," Pompeo made the remark in connection with another major rally that took place in Hong Kong on Sunday.
He said he believes Trump is going to get the opportunity to see Xi in Osaka in about a couple of weeks, and that he is sure the issue will be among those that they discuss.
Pompeo said the Trump administration is watching the people of Hong Kong speak about the things they value.
He suggested the administration intends to monitor how the Hong Kong government deals with the issue.
Concern has been growing in the US administration that the proposed bill could also allow US nationals living in Hong Kong to be sent to mainland China.
Trump cited the need to resolve this issue soon.
