S.Korea reports 115,638 new COVID-19 cases

Seoul [South Korea], August 30: South Korea reported 115,638 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 23,142,479, the health authorities said Tuesday.
The daily caseload was up from 43,142 in the prior day, but it was lower than 150,212 tallied a week ago, according to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
For the past week, the daily average number of confirmed cases was 99,059.
Among the new cases, 380 were imported from overseas, lifting the total to 58,342.
The number of infected people who were in a serious condition stood at 591, down six from the previous day.
Seventy-one more deaths were confirmed, leaving the death toll at 26,689. The total fatality rate was 0.12 percent.
