2 people injured in light plane crash on Australia's Great Barrier Reef island

Sydney [Australia], January 8: Two passengers were injured on Monday after a light plane overshot the runway on a small island in Australia's Great Barrier Reef, local media reported.
The plane was reportedly carrying nine passengers when it attempted to land on Lizard Island, about 1,600 km northwest of Brisbane, according to 9News network.
Queensland Police told 9News they were alerted to an "aviation incident" around 7:20 a.m. on Monday (2120 GMT Sunday).
Details of the crash were light at this stage, but the two people's injuries were believed to be minor, the police said.
A Royal Flying Doctor Service plane and two rescue helicopters were sent to the scene, the Australian news channel Sky News reported.
