Algeria thrashes Niger, inches closer to 2022 FIFA World Cup

Algiers (Algeria) Oct 9: Algeria on Friday thrashed Niger 6-1 at Blida stadium, 50km southeast of Algiers, as part of the third round of FIFA World Cup 2022 African qualifiers.
The Desert Foxes' goals were scored by Riyad Mahrez (27, 60), Feghouli (47), Soulaeymene (70-og) and Slimani (76, 88). The lone goal of Niger was scored by Marou (50).
Algeria shares the top of Group A with Burkina Faso who beat Djibouti 4-0 earlier on the day.
The Desert Foxes remain unbeaten for a record 29 games in a row.
Algeria travels to Niamey to face Niger in the fourth round of the qualifiers on Tuesday.
