Sofia [Bulgaria], April 13: The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) reported on Friday an outbreak of the highly pathogenic bird flu at an industrial farm.
The virus was detected on a broiler breeding farm with 390,000 birds in a village, 240 km southeast of the capital Sofia, the agency said in a statement.
In order to contain the disease and prevent its spread, the infected birds and those in touch with them on the farm would be culled, the BFSA said.
According to the agency's website, it was the largest poultry farm in Bulgaria affected by bird flu since the beginning of this year.
In total, this was the 10th bird flu outbreak at an industrial farm in Bulgaria this year.
