China bags three gold medals out of six

Tianjin [China], February 7: China registered three out of six gold medals in the opening day of the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships on Friday, dominating the podium in the men's triple jump and women's shot put.
Su Wen won the first gold in men's triple jump with a fifth attempt of 16.55 meters, while Jiao Xinping took the silver with 16.47 meters, Ma Yinglong was third in 16.45 meters.
Despite the title, Su Wen was not satisfied with his performance. "The season has just begun. Everyone's rhythm and form might not have been fully adjusted to the best. I will intensify training to improve my performance," said Su after the competition.
Song Jiayuan, the bronze medalist of the Paris Olympics, beat compatriot Jiang Yue in women's shot put with 18.36 meters. Sun Yue won the bronze medal with a throw of 15.95 meters.
The men's 60-meter final was the highlight of the night. Deng Xinrui sped up at the last moment to finish with a 0.01 seconds advantage, securing the victory in a thrilling manner. Asian champion Yoshihide Kiryu failed to finish on the podium.
The 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships features 26 disciplines, with over 300 athletes from 35 countries and regions across Asia participating.
