Earthquake strikes near Tokara Islands, Japan

Tokyo [Japan], September 19: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale struck on Thursday near the shores of the Tokara Islands in southwestern Japan.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), cited by Kyodo News, reported that the epicentre was located in nearby waters and was at a very shallow depth. The quake registered under 5 on Japan's 7-point seismic intensity scale.
It is worth noting that the Tokara Islands, known for their seismic activity, have been experiencing strong earthquakes and tremors since earlier this year.
