Fire on a Russian nuclear icebreaker

Moscow [Russia], December 25: A fire broke out on a Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker in the northwestern region of the country.
Russia 's Murmansk Emergency Department late on December 24 announced on the Telegram messaging application that a fire had occurred on the nuclear-powered icebreaker cargo ship Sevmorput but was quickly extinguished, according to Reuters. "There were no casualties in the incident," the agency said about the accident on the icebreaker.
Murmansk is a region in northwestern Russia , bordering Finland and Norway and bordering the Barents Sea and the White Sea.
Previously, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations announced that the fire occurred in one of the cabins on the ship in an area of ​​about 30 m2 .
The Sevmorput was put into operation in 1988 and was upgraded in many parts 10 years ago. This is Russia's only nuclear- powered icebreaker transport ship , according to state nuclear energy company Rosatom.
At an event this month, Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Russia's fleet of nuclear-powered icebreakers as unique. "No other country in the world has such ships. Russia is the only country with a fleet of nuclear icebreakers," TASS agency quoted the leader as declaring.
