Apr 02, 2025

Washington DC [US], April 2: Rescue teams in Lithuania have recovered the body of the fourth and final missing US soldier after pulling a sunken tank from deep mud, the US military confirmed on Tuesday.
The soldier was found near the Pabrade military training ground, according to the US Army's European Command in Wiesbaden, Germany.
The White House and Pentagon also confirmed his death.
The four soldiers, part of an infantry brigade, had been missing since last Tuesday after a training exercise. They were travelling in an M88 Hercules armoured recovery vehicle when they disappeared. A joint US-Lithuanian search effort, involving hundreds of soldiers and rescue workers, located the vehicle five meters deep in a swampy area of the training ground, known for its dense forests and marshy terrain. After days of effort and specialized equipment, the multi-ton vehicle was retrieved early Monday.
