Hamas delegation arrives in Cairo for ceasefire talks

Jan 28, 2025

Cairo [Egypt], January 28: Representatives of the Palestinian group Hamas have arrived in the Egyptian capital as the Gaza ceasefire with Israel continues to hold.
The Hamas delegation plans to discuss the implementation of the ceasefire, according to the Reuters news agency. The Israeli military is allowing tens of thousands of Palestinians to cross the Netzarim Corridor and return to the north. More captives and prisoners are expected to be exchanged in the coming weeks as humanitarian aid convoys are allowed into the enclave.
Meanwhile, Israel has said a Hamas list shows that eight of the 33 captives to be released in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement are dead.
Government spokesman David Mencer told journalists on Monday that Hamas said the other 25 are alive. Israel overnight said it had received a list of information on the status of the captives from Hamas. (Agencies)
