Hezbollah begins retaliatory attacks, Israel declares emergency

Jerusalem [Israel], August 25: Hezbollah has just announced the start of a large-scale attack on Israel in response to the assassination of military commander Fuad Shukr in late July. Hezbollah said it launched multiple drones (UAVs) loaded with explosives and rockets, targeting Israeli military facilities.
In a later statement, Hezbollah stressed that it had completed phase one of its campaign to avenge the death of commander Fuad Shukr. The force claimed to have launched more than 320 Katyusha rockets, hitting 11 Israeli military targets.
Lebanon's Al-Maydeen TV reported that Hezbollah launched more than 70 rockets west of al-Jalil, coinciding with air strikes from multiple locations.
Hezbollah rockets and missiles are targeting areas deep in the western Israeli city of Galilee and the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's Al-Arabiya news agency reported that more than 100 rockets were launched towards northern Israel. Sirens sounded across northern Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security cabinet meeting at 7 a.m. (11 a.m. Vietnam time) and canceled the regular cabinet meeting for the day. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant declared a state of emergency in Israel for the next 48 hours. According to The Times of Israel , this special situation allows the military to impose restrictions on civilian activities to facilitate military operations.
