Sep 16, 2024

Tel Aviv [Israel], September 16: The Iran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah claimed responsibility on Sunday for firing dozens of rockets at northern Israel, aimed at a military base.
The Israeli army said about 40 projectiles had been launched at Israel from Lebanon. Some were intercepted by the missile defence system while the rest landed in open areas. There were no reports of injuries. Firefighters were attempting to extinguish fires triggered by the attacks.
In addition, a drone loaded with explosives crossed the border into Israel from Lebanon. It crashed in the area of the town of Metula. Nobody was injured in the incident.
Overnight, the Israeli air force and artillery struck targets in Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said. A "terrorist cell" was hit, according to the statement.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health said on Saturday evening that four people, including three children, had been injured in an Israeli airstrike in north-eastern Lebanon.
