New Delhi [India], October 19: More than 100 volunteers from Hunger Free Bharat participated in the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2026 on Sunday, using the 5.3 km run to deliver a powerful message: Stop Food Wastage. Let No One Sleep Hungry.
Carrying placards with different messages on food wastage awareness the volunteers transformed their participation into a moving public campaign, encouraging people to value every grain of food and take responsibility for preventing avoidable wastage.
One of the most heartwarming highlights was the participation of 12 year old children Shaurya and Navay alongside 68-year-old veteran actor Aroon Bakshi. Actors Vindu Dara Singh and Aroon Bakshi joined the 5.3 km run demonstrating how people from different generations can come together to support a meaningful social cause.
Sharing his views, Vindu Dara Singh, Actor, said: “Food is a basic necessity yet we often take it for granted and waste it without realising its value. When so many people struggle to get a proper meal, preventing food wastage becomes a responsibility we all share. I am happy to support Hunger Free Bharat https://www.youtube.com/@HungerfreeBharat in spreading this important message. If each one of us becomes more conscious about the food we consume and waste, we can collectively make a meaningful difference. Let us respect every grain and ensure that food is valued, not wasted.”
Aroon Bakshi, Veteran Actor, said: “It is heartening to see people from different generations coming together for such a meaningful cause. Food wastage is an issue that deserves greater attention and initiatives like Hunger Free Bharat https://www.instagram.com/hungerfreebharat_ are helping take this message to more people. Whether young or old each of us can contribute by being mindful of our food habits and encouraging others to do the same. I am glad to support this initiative and hope it inspires more people to become conscious and responsible citizens.”
Mr. Prem Kumar, a passionate runner also participated in the initiative. His achievements include more than 25 races of 21 km, over 50 races of 10 km, participation in the Tata Mumbai Marathon and recognition as a Procam Slam achiever.
Sharing his experience, he said: “Running has always been my passion but today was different. This was the first race where I was running for something much bigger than myself. Being able to use my passion for a meaningful social cause made this experience truly special.”
Mr. Arvind Kumar, Founder of Hunger Free Bharat said: “When so many people struggle to access food, wastage cannot be treated as normal. We need to build a culture where food is respected and every individual takes responsibility for preventing unnecessary wastage. Seeing more than 100 volunteers, celebrities, children and experienced runners come together was truly encouraging.”
Mr. Kumar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Lakshya and Procam for their support and for providing Hunger Free Bharat with a valuable platform to spread awareness about food wastage. He also thanked his friends who joined him in the run and contributed to making the initiative a meaningful collective effort.
The participation at the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2026 reinforced the belief that small, conscious changes in everyday behaviour can contribute to a more responsible and compassionate society.
