Magnitude 7.0 quake hits off California coast, Tsunami warning issued

Washington [US], December 6: A powerful 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of California today, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the earthquake's epicentre was located 10 kilometres beneath the seabed and approximately 100 kilometres southwest of the coastal city of Ferndale.
The Tsunami Warning Center of the National Weather Service in Honolulu warned of the potential for hazardous tsunami waves within 300 kilometres of the epicentre. The statement urged individuals near the coast to remain alert to this potential danger.
