Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], January 17: Procurement decisions linked to corruption investigations involving Malaysia's armed forces and police have been suspended pending full compliance with procurement procedures, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said on Friday.
The government and ministries will review and restructure all procurement processes to ensure transparency within the existing system, Anwar told a press briefing.
In recent weeks, more than 50 million ringgit (about 12.3 million U.S. dollars) worth of cash, assets and funds from frozen accounts were seized in two high-profile investigations involving the Malaysian military, according to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
