Jul 27, 2025

Washington [US], July 27: A suspect has been arrested after a stabbing at a Walmart store in Michigan (USA) on the evening of July 26 that injured at least 11 people.
Michigan State Police announced that they are investigating a stabbing at a Walmart in Traverse City on the evening of July 26. According to AFP, police said they have arrested a suspect but details are still limited.
Munson Medical Center, the largest hospital in the area, confirmed it was treating 11 victims, which the hospital said was an unusually high number of patients.
The New York Post quoted a witness as saying that the stabbing happened when he entered the store to shop. After that, the investigation agency asked people to stay away from the scene. "I have never seen so many police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue vehicles and crime scene investigation vehicles. They sent the staff home and asked all the passengers to leave," said the anonymous witness.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced on social media that agency personnel were also assisting in the investigation.
Walmart spokeswoman Kim Hess told CNN the company is working with police and would not comment directly.
Traverse is a city in northern Michigan, a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to Lake Michigan and other Great Lakes.
