Doha [Qatar], February 1: Minister of Commerce and Industry HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani conducted a field visit on Saturday to a number of factories operating in the construction and building sector, as well as the metal industries sector, in the Small and Medium Industries Zone.
The visit forms part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to closely monitor developments in the national industrial sector and to assess the operational status and requirements of factories, with the aim of supporting their development plans and enhancing sustainable growth.
During the visit, the minister reviewed the range of key products manufactured by the factories, gaining insights into their production capacity levels and overall operational processes. The tour also included an overview of the advanced and modern technologies employed across production lines, highlighting their role in improving operational efficiency, enhancing product quality, and increasing competitiveness in both local and regional markets.
The minister was briefed by factory representatives on current performance indicators, challenges faced by the sector, and future expansion and development plans. These plans are designed to strengthen the factories' market presence, diversify product offerings, and align production with evolving market demands, while adhering to quality and sustainability standards.
The visit provided an opportunity for open dialogue between the ministry and industrial stakeholders, enabling the identification of key needs and opportunities for further support. Such engagement reflects the ministry's commitment to adopting a practical, field-based approach in shaping policies and initiatives that respond directly to the realities of the industrial landscape.
At the conclusion of the tour, the minister reaffirmed the ministry's commitment to continuing its support for the industrial sector as one of the main pillars of economic diversification. He emphasised that this commitment is in line with the Qatar National Manufacturing Strategy and the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy, through developing a conducive industrial business environment, providing incentives and facilitation to investors, and simplifying procedures.
The minister noted that these efforts contribute to attracting industrial investments, supporting the growth of national industries, and enhancing their contribution to the national economy, thereby reinforcing Qatar's position as a competitive and resilient industrial hub in the region.
