Pyongyang [North Korea], March 19: The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on March 19 that leader Kim Jong-un supervised and directed exercises of artillery units in western Korea . Super-large multiple launch rocket artillery systems with barrel diameters of up to 600 mm were used in the exercise.
Previously, on March 18, the South Korean military announced that it had discovered many short-range ballistic missiles launched from areas near Pyongyang and flying about 300 km toward the eastern sea of the Korean peninsula. Experts believe that it could be a rocket fired from a KN-25 super-large rocket launcher.
Mr. Kim Jong-un called these systems the "core attack means" of the army, playing an important role in the country's war preparations. The leader believes that it is necessary to make a stronger impression so that the enemy understands that if an armed conflict occurs, they will not avoid disaster.
North Korea 's super-large multiple rocket launchers are classified as short-range missiles, which can put the entire South Korean territory within range. North Korea claims it can mount tactical nuclear warheads on such weapons.
"The means of destructive attack that our army possesses should more thoroughly complete the task of preventing and suppressing the possibility of war with continuous perfect preparation to destroy the capital and the force structure. enemy's military," Mr. Kim said.
In January, Kim Jong-un called for amending the constitution to consider South Korea the "main enemy" and include in law a commitment to subjugate enemy territory in case of war.
