Aug 05, 2024

North Korea, August 5: North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has witnessed the transfer of a new tactical ballistic missile system to the military, state news agency KCNA reported today, August 5.
At an event held in Pyongyang on August 4 with the participation of scientists and military officials, units of the Korean People's Army (KPA) received a total of 250 new tactical ballistic missile launchers.
KCNA news agency described the missile as the most powerful tactical attack weapon at the moment and was personally designed by President Kim Jong-un.
Last month, North Korea said it tested a new tactical ballistic missile with a super-large warhead.
According to KCNA news on July 2, Pyongyang successfully test-launched the Hwasong-11 Da-4.5 missile capable of carrying a warhead of up to 4.5 tons.
The test was conducted with a missile equipped with a simulated warhead to verify flight stability and accuracy with a maximum range of 500 km. Another test of a super-large warhead missile was also conducted in July with a range of 250 km.
It is unclear what type of missile has been newly transferred to the North Korean military.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Kim Jong-un declared that Pyongyang will strengthen its nuclear readiness and protect the country from any external challenges.
The leader once again emphasized the need to stockpile and improve nuclear weapons because this is the best way to respond to threats and pressure from the US.
