Obama warns of 'cancel culture' after Jimmy Kimmel's talk show pulled

Sep 19, 2025

Washington [US], September 19: Former US president Barack Obama has warned of "cancel culture" under Donald Trump's administration following the suspension of comedian Jimmy Kimmel's talk show on US network ABC. "After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn't like," Obama wrote on X on Thursday.
The comments came after ABC pulled Kimmel's talk show over comments the host made about the killing of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, a close ally of Trump. (DPA)
