Jul 09, 2025

Ramallah [Palestine], July 9: Palestinian prisoners' advocacy groups announced Tuesday that the number of prisoners in the Israeli occupation's prisons has risen to approximately 10,800, as of the beginning of July, excluding those detained in Israeli military camps.
According to a statement released Tuesday by Palestinian prisoners' advocacy groups, the figure is the highest since the Second Intifada in 2000, based on documentary data available to the groups.
Regarding the number of female prisoners, the statement noted that their number to date has reached 50, including two from Gaza, while the number of children to date has reached more than 450. The number of administrative detainees as of the beginning of July has surged to 3,629, a higher percentage compared to the number of prisoners under arrest, convicted prisoners, and those classified as unlawful combatants.
The number of prisoners classified as unlawful combatants has reached 2,454. This number does not include all prisoners from Gaza held in Israeli military camps, making it the highest number since the beginning of the genocidal war.
The occupation continues its ongoing escalation across the occupied territories, including the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem, committing atrocities, violations, and transgressions that several UN and international bodies have recognized as requiring the perpetrators to be punished and brought to justice before the International Court of Justice.
