Over 4.5 mln stimulant tablets seized in central Myanmar

Yangon [Myanmar], December 22: Myanmar authorities have seized over 4.5 million stimulant tablets, 124 kg of methamphetamine and 40.7 kg of heroin in Mandalay region, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late Thursday.
The seized drugs are worth over 10.28 billion kyats (about 4.89 million U.S. dollars), the report said.
Acting on a tip-off, the Mandalay region police force raided a house in Chanmyathazi township on Dec. 15 and confiscated 4 kg of methamphetamine and 8,050 stimulant tablets.
On the same day, 120 kg of methamphetamine, over 4.5 million stimulant tablets and 40.7 kg of heroin were seized in Chanmyathazi.
The suspects who were involved in the case were charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
