Qatar's beach volleyball teams make strong start

Doha [Qatar], September 22: Qatar's beach volleyball teams kicked off their campaign at the Asian Games 'Aichi-Nagoya 2026' with a strong start on Monday. Both 'Qatar 1' and 'Qatar 2' teams secured well-deserved victories - a performance reflecting the Qatari teams' readiness and determination.
The top and experienced team of Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan sailed ahead with a 2-0 victory over the Philippines in Group A (which also includes Oman). The duo dominated the first set, winning 21-7, and maintained their momentum in the second for a 21-10 win, sealing the match in straight sets.
Younousse and Tijan displayed high levels of focus in both attack and defence.
Qatar's other beach volleyball team of Mousa Al Khair and Mohamed Ihab also achieved a 2-0 win over South Korea in their opening match.
The Qatari pair asserted their dominance from the outset, successfully clinching the first set 21-13.In the second set, Al Khair and Ihab elevated their level of play to win the set 21-9. The win provides them with a significant boost for the remainder of the competition.
Qatar's handball team beats China
Qatar's handball team defeated China 30-25 in their second match at the 20th Asian Games.
The second win saw Qatar team move to four points, sharing the top spot in Group A with Japan -which holds the same tally. The last group stage matches on Friday will determine the group winner and runners-up.
Qatar began the first half strongly, establishing an early advantage and taking a 3-0 lead. They maintained their momentum, extending the lead to 9-5, and held onto the advantage to reach a score of 12-8. In the final minutes of the first half, the China team intensified its efforts, managing to narrow the gap to 12-14 and 15-15.
In the second half, Qatar delivered a better performance, managing to regain lead, widen the gap, and seal the match with a 30-25 victory. This marks another successful step in their campaign to defend the gold medal they have won in the last three editions.
Qatar's 4x200m freestyle men's swimming team makes final
Qatar's swimming team of of Ali Tamer, Mohamed Mahmoud, Saad El Din Saad El Din, and Emile Fouzai qualified for 4x200m freestyle relay final after finishing the heats with a time of 7:24.10 minutes.
In the final, our team finished sixth with a time of 7:20.25 minutes.
On Tuesday, Qatar swimmers will be in action in the 1500m race and the 4x100m relay.
Qatar's 3x3 basketball team beats Indonesia, Chinese Taipei
Qatar's men's 3x3 basketball team achieved two consecutive victories at the Asian Games as they defeated Indonesia 10-7 and later Chinese Taipei 18-15, marking a strong start for the team in the tournament. The Qatar players delivered outstanding performances across both matches, successfully handling their opponents with great focus.
Shooters in action in skeet events
Qatar's shooting team will continue their campaign on Tuesday in the men's and women's skeet events at the Aichi Prefecture shooting range.
Rashed Saleh Al Athba, Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, and Ali Ahmed Al Ishaq are competing in the men's skeet event, while Reem Al Sharshani, Sarah Mohammed, and Hajar Mohammed are participating in the women's skeet event.
The Qatari team achieved impressive results in the men's skeet competition on Monday.
In the men's 10m air rifle event, Abdullah Zain Al Sunaidi scored 616.8 points, as did Khalid Al Sharshani, while Abdulrahman Ahmed scored 616.0 points.
Qatar's men's table tennis team advances
Qatar's men's table tennis team moved into the Round of 16 defeating Macau 3-2 in their Group A match. Qatar is represented by Abdullah Abdulhussain, Rawad Akram Al Nasser, Mohammed Abdulhussain, Sultan Khalid Al Kuwari, and Ahmed Eid Qarni.
In the women's team event, Qatar lost 0-3 to Hong Kong in their Group E match.
Men's individual artistic gymnastics campaign begins
Qatar's gymnasts began their participation at the 2026 Asian Games at the Nagoya General Gymnasium (Rainbow Hall) in the men's artistic individual qualification.
On the rings apparatus, Rakan Misfer Al Harthi scored 13.900 points to secure third place, while Mehrdad Barat Ghadimi scored 13.400 points, finishing 14th.
Artistic gymnastics competitions continue as part of the Qatari national team's participation at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
On Tuesday, Qatar's action continues across several sports including volleyball, basketball, equestrianism, and fencing.
Equestrian events return to the schedule after Monday's postponement due to weather conditions; Qatar aims to achieve positive results and maintain its strong standing in the sport.
Fencing will also feature Qatari participation, while karate and women's volleyball competitions continue with placement matches.
In women's 3x3 basketball, the national team begins campaign against Sri Lanka, followed by a match against China in the group stage.
The national e-sports team will open their campaign in efootball against South Korea, followed by matches against Saudi Arabia and Iran in
Group A.The team is represented by Mohammed Al Ahmad in efootball and Hassan Al Qadi efootball mobile. Rashid Al Awlan will compete Gran Turismo 7, aiming to deliver his best.
