Russian navy ships visit Cuba

Jun 13, 2024

Havana [Cuba], June 13: Four Russian naval vessels arrived Wednesday at the port of Havana for a visit that will last until June 17.
The Cuban Foreign Ministry said earlier that the vessels, including a nuclear-powered submarine and a frigate, do not "carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in the country does not pose a threat to the region".
According to the ministry, the visit "corresponds with the historical relations of friendship between Cuba and Russia," and it complies with "international regulations."
Upon arrival, the Russian ships offered a 21-gun salute that was reciprocated from the Cuban side.
In recent years, Cuba and Russia have deepened their traditional relations in political, military and economic sectors.
