Russian scientist who invented Kalibr rocket dies

Moscow [Russia], January 10: Russia's Almaz-Antey rocket company announced on January 9 that the country's top military rocket scientist Pavel Kamnev has died at the age of 86, according to RT Radio.
Mr. Kamnev has worked in the Russian aircraft industry since the 1960s. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, he led the NPO Novator company, where he was tasked with building missiles for the military .
He continued to work in this field despite his advanced age, serving as chairman of the board of directors of Novator and serving as the lead scientist of Almaz-Antey, Novator's parent company, until his death.
"(Mr) Pavel Kamnev is one of the pillars of the domestic military-industrial complex, a scientist in the field of rocket science," Almaz-Antey said in a statement.
