Turkish opposition calls boycott of firms it cites as pro-government

Mar 26, 2025

Istanbul [Turkiye], March 26: Turkiye's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has urged supporters to boycott a list of companies and media outlets which it branded as government-aligned.
"We do not see those who do not see us," CHP politician Özgür Çelik wrote on social media platform X. The list includes a major coffee chain, food conglomerates, publishing houses and TV channels. The CHP contends that the media groups listed avoid coverage of the recent protests sweeping the country or distort the details.
Protests over the arrest and suspension of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamogluhave been ongoing for nearly a week, with tens of thousands defying bans in Istanbul and other major Turkish cities. (DPA)
