Ukrainians in favour of ceasefire, but only with guarantees: Poll

Kiev [Russia], September 1: A large majority of Ukrainians appear to be in favour of a ceasefire, but only if clear security guarantees can be provided, according to a recent survey. Of the 1,600 Ukrainians surveyed, 75% saw security guarantees from Europe and the United States as a prerequisite for ending hostilities, the Ukrainian Rating Group reported.
The poll also found that 82% of respondents considered negotiations a realistic path to ending the war. Of these, 62% favoured involving other countries to help broker a compromise, while 20% supported direct negotiations with Moscow.
Of those surveyed, 59% backed ending the fighting and seeking a compromise, while 20% wanted the war to continue until the Donbass region and the Crimean Peninsula are fully reclaimed.
Ukraine intends to strike deep into Russia following a large Russian drone attack that left 60,000 Ukrainians without electricity, President Volodymyr Zelensky has said.
Speaking on Sunday after a meeting with his top general, Oleksandr Syrskii, the Ukrainian president confirmed the new planned strikes on X.
