UN chief calls for peace in Ukraine

Feb 24, 2025

New York [USA], February 24: A day before the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has called for an end to the war.
"I reaffirm the urgent need for a just, sustainable and comprehensive peace - one that fully upholds Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders," Guterres said in a statement.
Ukraine is on the agenda of the Security Council and the UN General Assembly on Monday, notably the US policy pivot under President Donald Trump, who is seeking to end the war with concessions to Russia.
