UN chief welcomes $2 billion US contribution to humanitarian efforts

New York [US], December 30: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday welcomed the United States' announcement of an initial $2 billion humanitarian contribution to support the United Nations' life-saving operations worldwide.
A statement attributed to the Secretary-General's spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, said the US funding would strengthen the UN's capacity to save lives, reach the most vulnerable and alleviate human suffering amid escalating global crises.
