UN official lauds Korea's support for peacebuilding efforts

New York [US], November 9: Rosemary DiCarlo, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, expressed her appreciation for the strong support provided by the Republic of Korea to the work of the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs during her visit to Seoul.
During the visit, she met with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Unification, as well as the Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee of the Korean National Assembly and its Vice Speaker.
In a statement following the visit, DiCarlo noted that she exchanged views with Korean officials on developments in the Korean Peninsula, including the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's ballistic missile launches on 31st October and 5th November, in violation of Security Council resolutions.
The statement confirmed that both sides agreed on the need for continued close cooperation to address peace and security challenges. They also discussed developments in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Sudan, as well as the work of the Peacebuilding Commission.
