US Trade Representative said the phone call with Minister Nguyen Hong Dien was effective

New York [US], April 25: On the official website, the office of US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer announced on April 24 that Mr. Greer had an effective online meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien on April 23 to discuss the US-Vietnam bilateral trade relationship.
Accordingly, Greer discussed the next steps between the office of the US Trade Representative and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam after President Trump's call with General Secretary To Lam on April 4.
"Both sides agreed on the importance of making rapid progress toward reciprocal and balanced trade between the U.S. and Vietnam. Ministers have instructed their teams to engage in technical discussions in the coming days to discuss efforts to expand market access and address unfair trade practices," the statement said.
Previously, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that this was an important meeting of the heads of bilateral trade negotiating delegations of Vietnam and the US to discuss the principles, scope and roadmap of negotiations, with the participation of members of the Government negotiating delegation and technical level representatives of ministries, related industries.
In a telephone conversation with Mr. Jamieson Greer, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership with the US and wishes to promote economic and trade relations in the direction of balance, stability, sustainability and efficiency.
Currently, Vietnam's ministries and branches are ready to negotiate and handle issues of concern to the US, together with the US side to find reasonable solutions for mutual benefit to the two sides, in the spirit of harmonious benefits and shared risks.
At the phone call, Mr. Greer also highly appreciated the agreement between the two countries to negotiate a bilateral trade agreement and expressed his belief that the two sides will soon reach appropriate solutions to promote stable and mutually beneficial economic and trade relations.
Before the end of the phone call, the two heads of trade negotiations between Vietnam and the United States agreed to maintain regular exchanges at the head of the negotiating delegation and at the technical level to speed up the negotiation process on each specific issue.
