Hanoi [Vietnam], May 7: Designer Victoria Beckham has just given her first response to the recent harsh statements from her eldest son, Brooklyn, clarifying her views on the Beckham brand and the parenting style of the famous family, Daily Mail reported on May 6.
In a recent interview, Victoria Beckham addressed the controversial statements from her son, Brooklyn. Earlier in January, Brooklyn unexpectedly announced his separation from the famous family, stating that he was no longer part of the Beckham brand. He also suggested that what his parents shared on social media was overly "performance-driven," implicitly suggesting an excessively exaggerated public image of the family.
The conflict between pressure for fame and privacy.
Appearing on businesswoman Emma Grede's Aspire podcast , Victoria Beckham asserted that building a multi-million dollar empire was never her and her husband's initial goal.
According to Victoria Beckham, the so-called "Beckham brand" developed naturally over time. When they first met David, both were developing their own careers. The former England star was associated with major advertising contracts, while Victoria was active in the Spice Girls and learned a lot about branding and marketing.
She emphasized that the couple always pursue independent paths. David Beckham focuses on sports projects such as the Inter Miami club, while she develops her fashion and beauty brand. "We don't have joint contracts. Each of us does our own work. The perception of the Beckham brand mainly comes from outside, not from how we define it ourselves," Victoria Beckham shared.
Victoria Beckham's comments are believed to be a subtle response to Brooklyn's six-page statement, in which he accused his family of being controlling and prioritizing his image above all else, with social media posts and events being merely "performances" lacking authenticity.
Although she didn't mention her son by name, Victoria Beckham affirmed that she never intended to build a family brand in the way that has been criticized. The businesswoman admitted that raising her children under the media spotlight is not easy. She said she always tries to protect her children as much as possible while maintaining family cohesion.
The designer also asserted that she is not a "coercive parent," but rather always aims to support her child's development to reach their full potential, contrary to Brooklyn's claims of growing up with persistent anxiety.
