Vietnamese runner-up bursts into tears, does something special for a 15-year-old girl.

Hanoi [Vietnam], July 31: Episode 197 of 'Vietnamese Family Home' aired with MC Thanh Thảo and two guests, runner-up Vân Nhi and singer Nguyễn Thai Học. They joined forces to help those in difficult circumstances overcome challenges in life.
Van Nhi and her teammates were deeply saddened to witness the plight of Ho Thi Xuan Dao (Nghe An). Her family has seven members, and for many years, they have struggled with illness and poverty. Specifically, her grandparents are elderly and ill, her father has neurofibromatosis, and her older brother has a tumor that cannot be surgically removed, requiring medication costing between 600,000 and 1,000,000 VND per month. Xuan Dao herself underwent brain tumor surgery in 2023. After the operation, she frequently suffers from headaches, fatigue, and slower learning abilities compared to her peers.
All the burdens of the family fall on the shoulders of the mother, Ms. Giang, a factory worker earning about 6 million VND per month. In the evenings, she folds paper for offerings at home, earning an extra 30,000-80,000 VND. Despite suffering from a herniated disc, this woman still has to work while taking care of her husband, children, and elderly parents. The family owns two plots of rice fields, but they have to hire people to cultivate them, yielding only about 6-7 quintals of rice per year, barely enough to eat.

Despite growing up in poverty, Xuan Dao remained diligent and hardworking. Her greatest wish wasn't for herself, but for her grandparents, father, and siblings to be healthy so her mother wouldn't have to work so hard. Witnessing Xuan Dao's family situation, runner-up Van Nhi couldn't hide her emotions. She choked up as she realized how simple the children's dreams were: just wishing for their families to be healthy so they could be together longer.
The image of young Xuan Dao facing illness and hardship, yet remaining understanding and mature, deeply moved Van Nhi. She also admired Ms. Giang, a mother who, despite her own illness, single-handedly cared for her husband, children, and parents. To encourage the family, runner-up Van Nhi donated 5 million VND, hoping to help improve their meals and alleviate some of their difficulties.
MC Thanh Thảo was also heartbroken to see many children come to the Vietnamese Family Shelter hoping to receive money to treat their own illnesses or those of their parents. Xuân Đao's situation particularly saddened the female MC, seeing her mother helpless in the face of her child's illness but unable to bear the burden herself.
From there, the female MC urged the children watching the program to cherish the moments spent with their families and express their love for their parents while they still can. Before participating in the filming, she mobilized her friends and donated 15 million VND to Xuan Dao's family.
Singer Nguyen Thai Hoc praised Xuan Dao's resilience, noting that she persevered in her studies despite having undergone brain surgery and still suffering from health problems. Having participated in the " Vietnamese Family Shelter" program twice , the singer said he still feels deeply saddened by the plight of these less fortunate children. Some are orphaned at a young age, while others have both parents but live in constant worry about their loved ones suffering from serious illnesses.
The image of Xuân Đao, so young yet already suffering so many hardships, deeply saddened Nguyễn Thai Học. The male singer continuously encouraged the characters and donated 5 million VND to her family. Although not participating in the filming, singer Đức Phúc still donated 10 million VND to Xuân Đao's family to boost their morale, which was appreciated by the audience.
