Vladimir Putin expects Xi Jinping to pay a state visit to Moscow in 2023

On Friday, 30 December, on the eve of the New Year, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks by video link. The Russian head of state said that he expects the Chinese leader to pay a state visit to Moscow next spring.
During the talks, Vladimir Putin stressed that landmark transport infrastructure projects have been implemented: "For the first time in the history of our relations, permanent bridges have appeared on the Amur River. On 10 June, the road bridge Blagoveshchensk- Heihe was opened. And on 16 November, was opened the railway bridge Tongjiang-Nizhneleninskoye".
The Russian President also stressed that humanitarian exchanges are being restored.
For his part, the Chinese President said that China and Russia maintain close strategic contacts and are ready to step up political interaction with each other.
According to Vladimir Putin, trade turnover between Russia and China will grow by about 25% by the end of 2022. "The figure of $200 billion is likely to be reached ahead of schedule," he said.
After the public welcoming remarks, the leaders will continue their bilateral conversation in a closed-door format, as Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier.
