Zelensky announces meeting on energy with Kiev's partners

Feb 17, 2026

Kiev [Ukraine], February 17: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday announced talks with partners this week in France focusing on energy, after weeks of massive power outages due to Russian attacks.
The meeting in the so-called Ramstein format will include the Group of Seven industrialized states, partners from northern Europe and the Baltic, he said. He explicitly named ministers from the United States, Canada and the European Union.
Millions of people in Ukraine have been hit by hours-long outages of electricity, water and heating caused by systematic Russian attacks.
The announcement comes one day before a new planned round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Geneva.
Zelensky reiterated on social media that he considers ceding territory to Russia to be the wrong path.
