Dybala cut from Argentina squad for WC qualifiers

Oct 02, 2021

Buenos Aires (Argentina) Oct 2: Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has been cut from Argentina's squad for World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay, Uruguay and Peru because of a leg injury, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) said on Friday.
The 27-year-old strained his left hamstring while playing for Juventus in their 3-2 home victory over Sampdoria in Italy's Serie A last Sunday (September 26).
"After an evaluation of his medical examinations, it was decided that ... Paulo Dybala would be withdrawn from the squad for the triple-header in October," read an AFA statement published on social media.
Argentina will face Paraguay away on October 7 before home fixtures against Uruguay and Peru on October 10 and 14, respectively.
The Albiceleste are currently second in the 10-team South American qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with five wins and three draws from their eight matches so far.
